Koran T. Saines was born in Fairfax, Virginia to his loving parents Terry & Patience Saines. He graduated from Broad Run High School. While attending Broad Run High School, Koran was a Varsity letterman in Football, Wrestling and Track. He was an active member of the Student Government Club and participated in the Statewide Virginia YMCA Model General Assembly at the state Capitol in Richmond, Virginia. This opportunity was Koran’s first exposure to our political process and it’s a memory that he has cherished. In 2003 he attended and graduated from Indiana Institute of Technology, located in Fort Wayne, IN with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Management.
After completing his undergraduate degree, Koran has worked in several Human Resource roles in the VA-DC metro area, and most recently as a Senior Human Resource Manager for Aramark. Part of Koran’s day-to-day tasks include identifying the root cause of a problem, listening to all facts and ideas, and then finding a mutual resolution to continually make progress. As a Human Resource professional, Koran is experienced in interpreting the concerns and problems of employees in order to aid in the understanding of others to get the job done. Koran looks to be a unifier and a much needed advocate for the Sterling District.
Koran comes from a close-knit, family oriented background. Koran is a single father to his active 8 year old son, Gabriel, who keeps the fun rolling and is a source of inspiration to Koran. Koran has been an assistant coach to his son’s baseball teams for the past three years.
When Koran’s not working or enjoying time with his son, he is diligently serving his community. He has been an election officer since 2007. As of the 2014 election cycle, Koran took on the role of Chief Election Officer. Koran has also served as a board member for his Chatham Green Unit Owners Association since 2009, serving as Secretary and most recently, as Board Vice- President.
Koran has spent the majority of his life living in Sterling, VA and would like the honor of being Sterling Supervisor to serve and support his fellow Sterling residents. If elected as your Sterling Supervisor, Koran would bring back respect and dignity to the seat, and will bring his passion for service, community, and finding common ground. Koran intends to bring innovative solutions to the difficulties Sterling has encountered in the past, not only by providing his own fresh perspective, but by truly listening to the people of Sterling and building bridges where there are divides. Sterling needs a leader that will work to create a flourishing community, as well as one that includes, welcomes, and represents all of the diverse cultures that call Sterling home. He would be fair and hold himself and others to high ethical standards. Most importantly, Koran will be a strong advocate for Sterling that you can count on. Sterling has been underrepresented by the current position holder. It’s time for a change because Sterling deserve better.
